Hyderabad: The Telangana Diagnostics programme, which was launched by the state government in January 2018, now offers 134 diagnostics tests, expanding upon the existing 54 tests. Health minister T Harish Rao said T-Diagnostics has revolutionised healthcare in Telangana.

Speaking at the virtual launch of the services, the minister said the newly-offered tests under the programme are priced anywhere between `500 and `10,000 in private labs whereas they are offered for free by the government.

He highlighted how the lab in Hyderabad received the national accreditation board for testing and calibration laboratories (NABL) certificate affirming adherence to the highest quality standards. “Further more, 13 district labs have achieved NABL primary accreditation, underscoring the excellence of T-Diagnostics facilities.

TDiagnostics has conducted over 10 crore tests for 57.68 lakh patients,” he said. T-Diagnostics was set up with the aim of providing free medical services to patients relying on government hospitals. Along side the 57 existing pathology tests, radiology tests such as X-ray, UCG, ECG, 2D echo and mammogram have been introduced among the 134 tests, the minister said.

“To ensure the successful implementation of these services, the government has invested `4.3 crore in setting up each radiology and pathology hub. Additionally, an expenditure of `1.70 crore will be incurred for conducting the 134 tests, bringing the total cost per hub to `6 crore. The annual operational cost for each lab, previously `2.4 crore, will now increase by `60 lakh, totalling `3 crore annually,” said the minister.
